The Kelly for Kids main fundraiser is the Jim Kelly Celebrity Classic, which always takes place the Sunday & Monday after Memorial Day. Celebrities from the sports and entertainment industry come together for a memorable weekend.
The VIP Gala took place on May 31, 2015, and included a Chinese, Silent & Live Auction featuring unique, one-of-a-kind memorabilia. At the Golf Classic on June 1, golf foursomes were paired with a celebrity golfer. On Sunday night at the Gala, a celebrity draft provided all foursomes the opportunity to bid on a specific celebrity to golf with. Over 50 foursomes and celebrities played on a 27-hole course.
The Kelly for Kids Foundation was established in 1987 by Jim Kelly, beloved Buffalo Bills Quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Fame member. It was his inspiration and hope that the foundation would help improve the quality of life for disabled and disadvantaged children in Western New York.
More than 29 years ago, the foundation began to raise money through a series of high-profile events attended by many of Jim’s former teammates, friends in the music, sports, and film industries, along with the support of many companies, local and national.
The foundation is proud that the money raised, nearly 5 million dollars, has stayed in Western New York through grants to small community charities that have served the handicapped or underprivileged youth.
